Develop a Legal Mind for the Business World

A professional doctoral program designed for non-practicing professionals who wish to understand the law without practicing as lawyers.

The Executive Juris Doctor program requires 90 credits. The EJD is a doctoral degree, which is designed for non-practicing professionals who would like to know the law but not practice as lawyers. The purpose of the program is to help students develop a legal mind and to possess solid legal and business knowledge. After the completion of the program students would be prepared to navigate the legal world as well as the business community.

Students of the EJD program study selected courses from the School of Business and Barclay School of Law. It is a professional doctoral program. The curriculum combines legal foundations, business associations and corporate law, estate and tax planning, dispute resolution, and business development, allowing students to build a strong interdisciplinary foundation.

Students may elect to take additional courses from an expanded list of electives, including Family Law, Intellectual Property, International Law, Securities Law, Bankruptcy Law, Immigration Law, Environmental Law, Patent Law, and Workers' Compensation Law. Interested students should confer with their mentors before making such decisions. The EJD Program is a combination of law and business courses, and students may elect to select additional courses from the Harriett business graduate program.
