Ms. Patricia Bundshuh-Dixon is a veteran mental health professional with over 42 years of service in clinical, academic, and community-based mental health settings. She is a Licensed Clinical and Macro Social Worker and an Accredited Clinical Social Worker with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) , recognized for her deep expertise, leadership, and compassionate service.
Since 2013 , Ms. Bundshuh-Dixon has served as Associate Director of the Counseling and Psychological Services Office at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she provides strategic leadership, clinical supervision, and therapeutic services focused on student mental health and well-being.
She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Doctoral Certificate in Research and Evaluation from Wayne State University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Central Michigan University. Her distinguished career began as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Behwan and Pleebo, Maryland County, Liberia , where she delivered health education services and worked in community clinics. It was during this time that she met and married Mr. Roosevelt W. Dixon of Monrovia, Liberia. Together, they have one son, Luis Nymeh Dixon , a successful artist.
Before joining Wayne State University, Ms. Bundshuh-Dixon worked in Community Mental Health for over 25 years , delivering both individual and group therapy services. She is a certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) specialist , holding a formal specialization certificate, and is particularly skilled in trauma-informed care and crisis response.
She is the founder and former coordinator of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office Bereavement Center , housed at The Children’s Center of Wayne County , where she led initiatives supporting families coping with the traumatic loss of a child to homicide.
Ms. Bundshuh-Dixon is a committed advocate for mental health at both local and national levels. She has served on the U.S. President’s Commission on the Status of Women , is a Board Member of the Michigan Crisis Response Association , and an instructor for the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports Certificate Program . In addition, she is a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor and International Critical Incident Stress Foundation Instructor .
Her work has earned her multiple honors, including the Wayne County Victims Assistance Advocacy Award and the Responder of the Year Award from the Michigan Crisis Response Association . She has presented nationally on topics such as non-suicidal self-injury among college students and police-mental health collaboration at conferences hosted by the University of Michigan’s Depression on College Campuses Conference , the American Association of Colleges and Universities , and the Association for the Coordination of Counseling Center Clinical Services .
